Practical preparation tips for detailed 3D printed people, from choosing scale through finishing.

Resin printer and supported miniature figures on a model making workbench

Start with a safe resin workflow

Read the printer and resin manufacturer's instructions, use appropriate gloves and eye protection, and provide ventilation suited to the materials. Keep uncured resin away from children and pets. Do not pour liquid resin or contaminated wash fluid down drains; handle and dispose of waste according to local rules.

Preparing miniature STL files

  1. Verify scale. Compare the model's measured height to your intended diorama or display.
  2. Examine geometry. Look for disconnected accessories, trapped resin, fragile parts, and unintentional openings.
  3. Orient carefully. Tilting a figure can help manage overhangs, suction and visible support marks.
  4. Review supports. Very small ankles, fingers and accessories may need fine supports; a supplied supported variant still needs review on your machine.
  5. Test a figure. Print a small sample before committing to a large batch.
  6. Wash and cure. Follow the resin and equipment guidance; let models dry before final curing.

Common problems

Missing hands, straps or thin objects

These may be below the reliable feature size of your printer or may lack sufficient support. Try an appropriate larger scale or modified supports.

Support scars on faces or clothing

Reorient the figure so supports contact less visible areas, then adjust contact tips and removal technique.

Warped feet or failed bases

Review initial layer settings, plate adhesion, orientation and resin exposure using your manufacturer's guidance.

Important: These are general educational tips, not printer-specific exposure profiles or guaranteed settings. We will publish model-specific instructions when our files are available.
